Testimony Started in Second TVM Trial Against Ethicon

The second bellwether trial against Ethicon of transvaginal mesh lawsuits began, and testimony has started. In the U.S. Southern District of West Virginia, cases were filed by women who had to undergo surgery to have the vaginal mesh removed after they suffered serious complications including chronic pain, organ damage and perforation.

A judge in New Jersey has ruled that a South Dakota woman’s trial against transvaginal mesh manufacturer Johnson & Johnson had overwhelming evidence and an appropriate jury, so the company’s plea to overturn the $11 million award was denied.
